Archer Web Solutions - Hit the target every time!

One of my duties as the Project Manager is also to answer the phone. I've had a lot of jobs that revolved around providing phone-based customer service, but I find working with web design clients very rewarding.

One aspect I enjoy is listening to the problems of potential clients who are unhappy with their current web design team. It's not so much that I enjoy hearing that they're unhappy as much as I enjoy knowing that we can fix their problems. It's in these conversations that I've discovered what people are looking for in a top notch web design team.

Here are some of the complaints I hear from unhappy web customers:

• Their corporate-built system is too difficult to navigate.
• Their customer service issues aren't resolved in a reasonable amount of time.
• They can't access real, live humans with web concerns.
• Their existing web solution is too limited for business growth.
• Their web site is static and doesn't do enough to engage potential clients.
• Their web framework is built on a proprietary CMS that can't be transferred without significant web re-design and/or is irritating to use.

If you haven't noticed from our recent blog posts. We're rather customer-service obsessed. We believe that relationships and best practices on the web come first and these values contribute to long-term business arrangements. We believe that offering education empowers customers to make good business decisions about the web. There shouldn't be a huge curtain between you and your web site, you should be able to learn how to make your web site work if you want to. And if you don't, you should have a web team that will respond to your needs in a timely and friendly fashion.
But the big question is, how to know that your web team is this reliable? What are the qualities that you should look for?

-Communicates with clarity and transparency.

-Responds to your needs in a timely fashion.

-Encourages customer education around web marketing strategy and web site management.

-Offers tools that allow you to manage your own web site should you wish to.

-Offers web design products and services in a phased approach.

-Makes an effort to learn about your particular business and offers strategies for your specific audience.

-Specializes in the solution you want - if you want to work in Drupal, find Drupal specialists. Want Joomla? Find Joomla specialists. If you're looking to move away from your existing web solution, work with a company that specializes in the goals you're looking to achieve with your new web site.

-The team is clear about its project process and the path that leads to a finished product - they are clear on scope and review expectations before moving forward on the project.
